Causeway Bay is one of the many famous neighborhoods in Hong Kong island and is known for the good shopping that can be had here. While there seems to be no big malls around, I like the fact that the place has small shops and boutiques from a wide assortment of brands occupying the lower portion of the usual HK residential buildings.
Causeway Bay has a more scaled down atmosphere compared to Central, making it less intimidating. Unlike in Central, here in Causeway Bay there were no mega avenues—just shops and smaller streets, which make it more pedestrian and commuter-friendly for me. It’s no wonder then that Causeway Bay is an area known to be popular among Filipino tourists.
I think we were already there past the usual lunch hour and so there weren’t too many lunchgoers around, which was good considering the popularity of this place, even for Filipino travelers. I was expecting a throwback to a traditional Hong Kong dimsum place but the restaurant surprised me with its modern interiors, like stainless steel tables with hot pink touches and bright lighting. It was also a good sign that we saw mostly locals around.
Since it was our first time in Delicious Kitchen, we of course had to get the Double Pork Rib Rice (HK$50). The pork is fried and glazed with honey and served over rice with Chinese vegetables and special broth. This was the star of the restaurant and the reason why Delicious Kitchen has become so popular.
Just to have some variety, we also ordered the Pork Rib and Steamed Fish rice (HK$50).
The steamed fish was ok too but Delicious Kitchen’s pork rib is really the must-order and the reason why anyone would try this restaurant. We ordered some refreshing cold lemon tea and milk tea to go with our lunch (HK$14 each).
It was a simple meal but it was perfect. What’s so special about a pork dish? It’s sweet and the meat was tender. And well, you have to try it out for yourself and discover why so many are raving about it.
Delicious Kitchen actually has a lot more offerings on their menu. Hopefully next time, we get to try some of them, along with our order of their pork rib rice of course. A shot of Delicious Kitchen’s menu (click to enlarge):
Delicious Kitchen also has a newer branch in Tsim Sha Tsui. If you’re already in Kowloon, no need to cross to Causeway Bay just to experience Delicious Kitchen’s great food at good, affordable prices.
Wishing you fabulous travels! Cheers!
