One of the must-try restaurants in Laoag, Ilocos Norte is La Preciosa where we went for lunch. It’s been around for several years and has become a veritable institution in the Ilocos food scene. The ambiance was quiet and cozy.
with our driver, Manong Greg
We had to order the famous Ilocano dish, Puqui-puqui (P135), the Ilocano’s unique treatment of tortang talong with lots of sliced tomato and onions. This was really, really good. (Thank you to B. of On Travel Therapy for the La Preciosa and food pics)
We also ordered chicken adobo (P160) just to see how different the Ilocano cook their adobo and we also ordered lauya (P175), a pork dish and fish stew called nilengta nga ikan (P145)(not pictured).
And on to the real stars of lunch—dessert! 🙂 The cakes in La Preciosa are a must-try! (P80 per slice) Their bestseller is the Carrot Cake. Super yummy 🙂
And we also couldn’t resist their Mango Cheesecake and the Chocolate Cake to go with our coffee. Yes, they tasted as good as they look 🙂 I will go back just for these cakes!
After lunch, we then headed to Laoag’s church, the St. William’s Cathedral.
The Cathedral is known for its sinking bell tower (in the photo background)
Wishing us all more travels. Cheers! 🙂
