After almost a year after the Hong Kong holiday that I took in October 2011, I’ve finally completed this travel guide, which contains all the posts on that trip. Here you will find the summary of my holiday—complete with beginner’s guides, restaurant reviews, and itinerary.
My experience of Hong Kong was that it’s familiar and strange, rough and sweet at the same time. It’s super modern with towering skyscrapers all around, and yet it’s filled to the brim with the living culture of the Cantonese-Chinese and is as authentic as it can be. During my eight days there, I saw both the touristy side of Hong Kong, as well as those that are off the beaten tourist path. Hong Kong is definitely not a melting pot, but it is very much a world city. There were fellow travelers everywhere and so many people from different nationalities—making Hong Kong to my eyes, the gateway to the rest of the world. Hong Kong is a contradiction, full of contrast, and yet uncontrived.
Cheers and fabulous travels! 🙂
