I went home to Samar in August mainly to be bridesmaid to a family friend’s wedding. After the wedding in Calbayog City, my craving to go to San Antonio in Northern Samar was finally fulfilled. I went there with my parents, my two friends Dondon and Mulo, and Mulo’s friends, Peter and Mabel. As a background, the island of Samar used to be comprised of only one province but was eventually divided into three provinces in 1965–Eastern Samar, Northern Samar, and my own home province, Samar (the western part of the 4th largest island of the Philippine archipelago). Up to now, people (even Samarenos themselves) are confused about this division.
The town of San Antonio is located in the island of Dalupiri in Northern Samar. From Calbayog, we took a 2 hour jeepney ride to the town of Victoria. From there, it was another 25 minute boat ride to the island where San Antonio was located. This was a place of white beaches and is increasingly becoming famous even to non-Samarenos and foreign tourists.

We stayed at the Haven of Fun beach resort, the biggest in the island. Mainly, everything was about relaxing and chilling. Low key and quiet, just the way I liked it.

Here are some of my favorite pictures of the trip. We spent the day lounging, line dancing & practicing curacha (the Samar folk dance), eating, talking, reading, taking glamour shots (but of course!) and simply enjoying each other’s company 🙂 It was not a Boracay sort of beach trip and just as well 🙂
