Packing for a Beach & Country Getaway

April 10, 2011 by The Sunset Goddess 6 Comments

I recently went on a beach and countryside holiday with girlfriends. Let me share with you how I packed and some products which I used and loved for the trip 🙂

First are the travel cases I got from Storage Solutions. You can buy from them online although I prefer to browse through their stuff in the Greenhills tiangge and in their permanent store in Cash & Carry mall.

This is my toiletry case (P150) from Storage Solutions. I love how it’s so compact yet it fit all my bath & post-bath products. The travel kit comes in different colors—I got one in red and black 🙂

My most loved summer toiletry item is Hawaiian Tropic’s sheer touch sunscreen. I love the scent of Hawaiian Tropic (as much as i love the childhood nostalgic scent of Coppertone) =) And it comes in a new, cuter packaging too 🙂 It’s perfect for the beach and for all the days we spent going around the tourist spots, without the sticky feeling and white sheen that other sunblocks give.Hawaiian Tropics sunscreen

There is also one other travel essential that I must mention. It’s a must-have when traveling ANYWHERE. Human Nature’s Anti-Bacterial Pocket Soap (P59.75). At this price, it’s a real steal.

Next is my luggage organizer also from Storage Solutions. I like using it because I get to compartmentalize all my clothes and underwear —copped this idea from my friend B. 🙂 It makes for easy packing and use throughout the trip, when there’s no time or space to actually unpack the clothes in our rooms. The set of 3 organizers (of varying sizes) retails at P400 but I was able to bargain it down to P350 (another advantage of buying on site). However, if you’re a little tight on space or if you’re bringing just a duffel bag, I don’t think you can fit all three organizers. It does add to the bulk of the bag but that’s the trade off for the more organized packing. I won’t get into the details of the clothes I packed as I will make sure to include them in the outfit posts to come 🙂

My travel makeup kit (P100) is also from Storage Solutions, which I also got in red to match my other travel cases. Because of the rubber mesh material, it’s also perfect for travel stuff that can get wet (for faster drying).

Here are the contents of my makeup kit. For somebody who wears makeup almost everyday, this is really my summer makeup at its most essential. These are the things I can’t live without and swear by every summer, with some colors and updates 🙂 And I love that everything fit into the little kit.

The contents of my travel makeup kit: H&M lip gloss, Bare Minerals powder brush, Fanny Serrano goat hair blush brush, Bare Minerals powder, Bare Minerals mineral veil, Shu Uemura lash curler, In 2 It pink eyeshadow trio, The Body Shop Shimmer Cubes Palette #6, Clarins Summer Face Powder (used as bronzer), Nars Orgasm blush, Fanny Serrano eyebrow powder, Elizabeth Arden Green Tea Eau de Toilette, Patrick Rosas G-lish Gelato cream eyeshadows, The Body Shop Matte It Face and Lips, In 2 it green eye color duo, eyeshadow brush, L’Oreal kohl eyeliner, Elf green shimmer eyeliner pencil, Careline pearl shadow, Bench pretty when pinched blush, Blistex fruit smoothies lip balm, Lipsticks—Maybelline Summer Sunset, Maybelline Watershine in R21, Clinique Fresh Watermelon, and Bench Orchid Pop.

For shoes, I only brought two pairs and both were flats. I wore my Celine gold strappy sandals during the flight so I packed only my slippers. I must say that I love my white Havaianas Slim flip flops : ) They are simply the most versatile travel footwear and I won’t leave home on a trip without them.

I packed them in this shoe bag (P100) from Storage Solutions. It can even pack up to 2 pairs of flats.

Now for another set of travel cases which I’ve sourced from one other online seller I’ve come to trust and love, Fab Manila. I’ve bought several items from them since I discovered them online more than a year ago. Check out their website and I’m sure you’ll fall in love with their gorgeous photoshoots and product shots too 🙂

From Fab Manila

For this trip, I packed in all my accessories in Fab Manila’s small peek-a-boo storage bag (P35.00).

Fab Manila accessories case

This is a picture of the accessories I planned to pack, although I still attempted to edit down the items. “Attempted” because I think the only items I eventually didn’t bring were the long white necklace and the stack of gold bangles to the left. 🙂

I am also so loving my new find—a goldish bronze coiled snake bracelet which I got for just P350 🙂

Are my accessories too much for a five day trip? Well, my excuse is—to each her own. I think the weight of my accessories is roughly equivalent to the weight of the beauty equipment my travel mates B. and ANT packed in their luggage 🙂 Hahaha 🙂

In every trip, I also have to bring my sunglasses. I brought my Ray-ban Wayfarers in rare prints edition which I co-own with my brother 🙂

And my el cheapo sunglasses which all fit into Fab Manila’s sunnies case (P250).

The bag I used for the trip was Fab Manila’s Talia Messenger bag (P85o), which I also love. I’ve been looking for a satchel/messenger bag in this color and I’m so glad that I waited for Fab Manila to release their version.

And last but not the least for my travel essentials, the cameras I brought with me on my trip. My Canon Powershot S90 and a Canon Powershot G11.

A camera mishap happened to my S90 on the second day of the trip. And stupid me, I forgot to pack the charger of the G11 and so I ended up not taking too many pictures with it. Good thing my friends had cameras of their own (yet another advantage of going on a girlfriend getaway) 🙂 Lesson for the trip was to not bring cameras to the beach and I should have brought a (cheap) spare. Anyway, my rants and raves about my Canon cameras deserves a totally different post. 🙂

Wishing all of us more travels. Cheers! 🙂

Hi! Just want to ask where you buy Bare Escentuals products? I’m a big fan of the said brand too and I’ve been dependent on online stores lang and from that store in PP. Anyway, when I buy it online, most of the time, for pre-order and I (sort of) hate waiting lalo na when I already need it. So just wanted to ask where you buy? Baka kasi you know a store which carries the said brand. 🙂

    Thanks! 🙂

Hi Anne 🙂 I got my Bare Escentuals as gifts/ pasalubong from my aunts living in New York. Before I used Bare Escentuals, I also bought my mineral makeup online through Multiply dealers selling Ellana and Luminare. However, I find that these brands really can’t compare to the quality of Bare Escentuals. I have heard of an online seller who’s selling Bare Escentuals in the Philippines though. Have you tried Bare Beauty? http://www.barebeautyonline.com/ Once I run out of my Bare Escentuals makeup or can’t get anyone to buy it for me in the States or in Singapore (Sephora), I would probably order Bare Beauty. the prices would probably be higher compared to the States/Singapore but that’s the price we have to pay 🙁

I have another fasyon friend who’s using the Youngblood mineral makeup line, available in Beauty Bar outlets. I will try that soon too. 🙂
Hope this helps. Thanks for dropping by 🙂

Hi! Anne here again. Anyway, yes, I’ve bought quite a few items from Bare Beauty/Claud already – and so far, she’s still my favorite online seller. 🙂 I found other sellers in eBay and in FB as well. The one is eBay charges way too much and the one in FB is almost of the same price as Bare Beauty. But anyway, I hope there’ll be a BE counter in Rustans or whatever. At least, more accessible sana no? 🙂

Thanks for the reply btw! 🙂
