For my first installment of my OOTD Roundup series, I looked back at my outfits in recent days and found that the common element going through them were my statement necklaces. Summer in Manila this year has been soaring hot (but funny how it seems each summer always seems hotter than the last!). And lately, with the heat, the only thing I can ever throw on to punch up my outfits are these big, bright, and bold necklaces. Forget layering clothes, forget arm parties, and stacked bangles that stick to the skin! For this summer, it’s all about these statement necklaces and color, color, color!
Recently, I also found myself being drawn to necklaces that are made of organic materials (fabric, beads, or leather) rather than ones made purely out of metal. I like the selection of “organic” necklaces in the Kultura Filipino section of The SM Store— in recent years, I discovered that they now have pieces that are just the right mix of native/tribal and contemporary chic that are good enough to be worn in the city and not just for the beach.
I’ve also been wearing statement necklaces (such as the lovely white leather one pictured above) from one of my favorite online sellers, House of Heirloom (find them on Instagram at @houseofheirloom)—all pieces are handmade and are either sold in limited quantities or are one-of-a-kind (so much so that being able to get your hands on their pieces is more of a lesson in luck and serendipity than outright consumerism!).
My outfits, in statement necklaces:

I have a thing for statement necklaces. Actually, I like necklaces with character, statement or not.
Your fringe necklaces are lovely! I have a neck piece from House of Heirloom, too! I won it from a blog giveaway they sponsored before. I loved staring at their pieces so I followed their IG account. Haha.
My dream is to put up a necklace business someday. Necklaces only because it’s my fave accessory. 🙂
